DESCRIPTION:
The Porsche Cayman and Boxster models were given a facelift for the 2009 model year, these cars are commonly referred to as ‘Gen 2’ cars. The Cayman S gained ‘direct fuel injection’ (DFI) whilst a Limited Slip Differential became a factory option. The automatic ‘tiptronic’ transmission of the previous generation was replaced with Porsches highly praised 7 speed dual clutch PDK transmission which became the more popular option over the manual alternative.

Cosmetic changes included restyled lights and front and rear bumpers along with updated alloy wheel options including certain 911 wheel designs. Some interior features were also subject to the update including steering wheel styles and radio / media interfaces (PCM).

Externally this Gen 2 Cayman S presents beautifully with the bodywork bearing no major marks, damage or signs of use other than a few light stone chips on very close inspection as you would expect. The bright silver 19” Carrera Classic alloy wheels feature colour crested centre caps and set the car off very nicely well. The tyres are a matching set of Goodyear’s with good tread remaining.

On the inside, the black leather seats feature contrasting white stitching and optional Porsche Crest embossing on the headrests. The seats, carpets, trim and switchgear show no major signs of wear or use.

The interior features some nice driver focused options such as the Leather Sport Design steering wheel as found in the Cayman R, featuring a ’12 O’clock’ marker, PDK transmission paddles and Sport / Sport Plus mode indicator. The cayman also has the Sports Chrono package which optimises the PDK transmission depending on mode selection whilst featuring the dash top sports chrono stopwatch.

Other driver focused factory options on this car include a Limited Slip Differential, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), rear Park Assist, Auto dimming mirrors, Cruise Control and superb Bi-Xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS).

On the road, this Cayman S is a joy to drive as you would expect. The car feels light whilst remaining tight and responsive with impeccable mid-engine handling with performance which does not disappoint whilst the Brembo brakes are powerful and confidence inspiring.

The double-clutch 7-speed PDK transmission is superb and really maximises the cars performance whilst offering manual selections via the steering wheel paddles as the mood takes. Sport and Sport Plus modes are selectable should the driver wish to liven things up even further and the howl of the 3.4 flat six at higher revs is simply intoxicating and addictive. These are a real driver’s car.
