DESCRIPTION:
CSC are delighted to have this very special 993 Carrera S back in stock. This simply superb and rather rare Porsche 911 993 is finished in stunning Zenith Blue with complementing Linen leather interior and comes with the manual 6 speed transmission. This 993 is about as good as they come.

The Porsche 911 (993) was available between January 1994 and early 1998 and replaced the previous model 964 from which only 20% of parts were carried over. Porsche referred to the 993 as a ‘significant advance in both technical and visual perspective’ and the cars featured a new light-alloy sub frame with coil and wishbone multi-link suspension which was seen as a significant step forwards in handling.

The 993 model was also the first 911 to receive a 6-speed manual gearbox though Porsches 4-speed tiptronic automatic transmission as seen on the previous 964 models remained an option. The 993 was available in rear wheel drive or 4 wheel drive variants as per the 964.

Perhaps the most obvious change was the external styling of the 993 which featured heavily revised exterior panels with more flared front and rear wings, smoother front and rear bumpers. The ‘traditional’ 911 headlights were also updated for the first time with a much smoother, more racked back styling and more modern ‘projector’ type headlights reminiscent of those featured on the 959. All 993 models apart from the turbo variant also retained the electronically activated rear spoiler from the 964 which was deployed at speed to increase downforce and aid engine cooling.

In 1996, Porsche offered the Carrera 4S which featured the 993 Turbo’s wider body shell whilst retaining the naturally aspirated Carrera engine. This was then followed in 1997 by the Carrera S, a rear wheel drive variant which weighed in around 40kg lighter than the all-wheel drive 4S which slightly improved the cars performance. The ‘S’ cars featured lowered suspension in keeping with the turbo’s looks.

Production numbers of the Carrera 4S and Carrera S were relatively small, with the rear wheel drive S variant being the more rare with around 3,700 models produced in total, and only around 345 examples coming the the UK making this model highly sought after, especially in manual gearbox guise.

This particular example is in simply immaculate condition throughout with the current owner and well known Porsche Club member having cherished and maintained the car with no expense spared since his ownership in April 2014.

Externally the Zenith Blue paintwork presents perfectly following a bare metal, glass out repaint by Cheshire Porsche Specialists Ninemeister in March 2015 and there is barely a stone-chip to be found. The car retains its original factory 18” Technology ‘hollow spoke’ lightweight alloy wheels which remain in very good condition with no major marking whilst other details such as the rear light units and central reflector (often found in a poor state) are also in excellent condition with no fading or cracking.

The inside of the 993 carries on along the same theme as the outside, being in excellent condition and with the two tone Linen and Midnight Blue interior complimenting the exterior perfectly. The electrically adjustable hard-back sports seats are is superb condition along with the rest of the interior finishes, trims and carpets and the interior of this car is probably one of the cleanest of all the 993’s we’ve seen. All electrics and controls appear to be working correctly.

Mechanically the car runs and drives just as well as it looks. The engine idles smoothly and on the move, power delivery is smooth and strong with a glorious flat six howl towards the higher end of the rev range. The car feels tight and pulls well in each gear whilst the 6 speed manual gear box is smooth, precise and a joy to operate. The brakes feel smooth, powerful and confidence inspiring as they should, and the classic 911 steering feel is a real old school treat to a seasoned Porsche enthusiast.

HISTORY:
The car was first registered on 29th January 1997 at Parker & Parker, Porsche Kendal to its original owner. The service history shows the 993 stayed largely within the Porsche main agent network for servicing and maintenance until 2004, and then reputable and renowned Porsche independent specialists.

In late 2001, the car suffered a total power loss after a down-shift on the motorway and was recovered to Stratstone Porsche, Wilmslow where on strip down, extensive internal damage was found. A replacement new short motor, manifolds, catalysts and many other engine components were fitted at a cost of over £22,000.

The 993 was purchased by an active Porsche Club GB member in April 2014 with the car having covered around 119,000 miles. In March 2015, the 993 was delivered to North West Porsche specialists Ninemeister who carried out a full, bare metal body restoration including fitment of full frontal paint protection film. The car has covered around 4,000 miles since and remains in immaculate and un-blemished condition.

The car was owned, cherished and regularly displayed at PCGB meets and National Car shows by the owner before being reluctantly sold due to declining health in August 2022. The 993 was sold by ourselves to a private Porsche enthusiast who has dry stored the vehicle, only using the vehicle on a couple of occasions.

Since 2014, all aspects of servicing and maintenance have been completed by Ninemeister here in Warrington.
