INTRODUCTION:
CSC present for sale this Stunning and highly desirable Porsche 993 turbo coupe in the stunning launch colour of Arena Red metallic with Black leather interior. The very last of the air-cooled 911 turbos complete with all wheel drive, twin turbo chargers and the performance to match its stunning looks.

The Porsche 993 was the 4th generation of the 911 model replacing the short lived 964 model and was available from January 1994. Despite the 993’s close resemblance to the previous model, Porsche claimed that only 20% of the 993’s parts were carried over from the previous generation, and that the car had in effect been redesigned from the ground up.

The 993 featured an all new light-alloy subframe with an all new multi-link suspension system to vastly improve the previous generation 911’s ‘on the edge’ handling characteristics. Along with huge engine and transmission changes, including the first 6-speed manual transmission in a 911, the 993 was seen as a much more civilised and useable 911.

The exterior styling (by English automotive designer Tony Hatter) retained the basic body shell architecture from the previous generation 911’s but featured much more sculptured and smooth lines. There were other hints of Porsches 1980’s supercar the 959 found in some of the styling, notably the much more aerodynamic and integrated headlights.

The 993 turbo was introduced in 1995 and featured a twin-turbocharged 3.6 litre flat six Metzger engine making 408bhp, an all-wheel drive system derived from the 959 supercar, widened ‘turbo’ bodywork and a fixed and 18 inch alloy wheels with hollow spokes to reduce weight. The turbo came with the traditional statement huge, fixed rear wing rear wing which housed the huge intercoolers and the turbo featured Porsches uprated ‘big-red’ brakes to match the cars performance. The 993 turbo was also one of the first production cars to have an OBDII diagnostics system installed.

DESCRIPTION:
This particular example is in excellent overall condition as you would expect having covered a fairly low mileage. Externally, the Arena Red paintwork is in very nice condition no major marks or damage other than a few stone chips to the front bumper and bonnet as usual and the odd minor scratches or mark around the car on very close inspection. The 18inch hollow spoke alloy wheels appear to be in original and un-refurbished condition but remain in very good condition with no kerb damage or major marks. The car is fitted with a brand new set of ‘N rated’ Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.

The interior of this 993 turbo features full black leather trim and carpets and is in superb condition with no major wear or signs of heavy use. All electrics work as intended and even the air conditioning blows icy-cold (very unusual for an air-cooled 911)! The car is fitted with the factory Becker CDR-21 Radio CD unit along with the Nokia DSP audio system. The turbo has electrically adjustable seats which have electrical heating and an electric sun / moon roof.

Mechanically this 993 turbo runs and drives even better than it looks. Thanks to the low mileage and relatively light use, the car feels tight and solid with no rattles, squeaks or play in the controls. The engine is quiet, smooth and powerful whilst the 6 speed manual gear box feels solid and precise. The brakes are smooth, powerful and confidence inspiring as they should, and the classic 911 steering feel is a rear old school treat to a seasoned enthusiast.

All 993’s are a treat to drive, however, every now and again one stands out as being that extra bit special, and this 993 turbo is without doubt a special one. Those who know do say the left hand drive cars drive better than the right hand drive versions and this car is no exception with its better driving position (less pedal offset) and everything where Porsches designers originally intended them to be without compromise.

Thanks to the relatively small size and classic 911 all-round visibility, you quickly become accustomed to driving from the left seat on UK roads with no major issues and if road trips vacations are a possibility, then we can’t think of a better automotive companion for munching up the miles across Europe where this German spec 911 would be in its element. 1st stop, the Porsche Museum perhaps?!
